Tottenham Hotspur have signed England youth international defender Calum Logan from Ipswich Town, while forward Will Lankshear has signed a professional contract with the club.
On Friday afternoon, football.london was at Hotspur Way when left-sided centre-back Logan, 16, arrived to complete his switch to the club’s academy. Spurs were interested in the England U17 international last summer, but he chose to stay with the Tractor Boys for another season.
The highly rated youth has now accepted to join the north London club. Logan has been playing up an age level with Ipswich U18s this season, and was part of a side that reached the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals. In their 4-2 loss to West Ham, the kid was sent off.
Logan was not the only athlete to sign a contract this week, as striker Lankshear turned 18 and signed a professional contract with the club. The forward was signed from Sheffield United in a rumoured £2 million deal last summer.
Lankshear scored five goals in seven games for the U18s domestically and in the UEFA Youth League, while also making appearances for the U21s before requiring knee surgery in February to correct a knee ailment that interrupted his season.
On Friday, the club also revealed that 18-year-old goalkeeper Luca Gunter has signed a new deal that will last until 2025.
The goalkeeper has been with Spurs since the age of 12 and has had an impressive season as captain of the U18s, being a near-constant in all competitions and leading the team to both the U18 and U17 Premier League Cup finals, winning the latter this week against Nottingham Forest.
Gunter made his U21s debut against Fulham in March and has been capped by England at every age group from U15 to U18.
