Tottenham finally list out top player to replace Kane as Bayern set to meet Daniel Levy on monday

With Bayern Munich officials flying to London on Monday to meet with Daniel Levy in an attempt to buy Harry Kane from Tottenham, it’s only fair that Spurs have arranged a list of prospective alternatives.

Many names have been associated with the London club, but according to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, one stands out above the others.

That man is Jonathan David, as the publication examines the potential striker dance that will likely take place if the England international leaves Tottenham.

The Canadian international is said to be ‘following’ by Spurs, who have apparently put the 23-year-old at the ‘top of their list’ to replace Kane.

Napoli were interested in him, but they won’t move Victor Osimhen just yet, and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested after missing out on Rasmus Hjlund.

Indeed, it is that last transaction that is generating alarm for many of the teams involved in the David chase, including Inter Milan, because ‘there are many who claim’ that the deal signed by Atalanta for the Dane ‘will end up forcing the costs of others to rise as well’, according to Gazzetta.

Since the Bergamo side sold a player who scored nine goals in Serie A last season for close to €85 million, there is an argument that Lille could ask Tottenham (or any other club) for something similar or more, given that David scored 24 goals for his club in Ligue 1 during the 2022-23 season.

He is currently valued at €50 million by the French club, with that price potentially dropping to €40 million in August, but given their track record of finding exceptional deals for their key players (see Osimhen and Nicolas Pépé), that sounds fairly low.

Especially if Tottenham shows up knowing they have €100 million in their bank.
