Tottenham Hotspur’s appointment of Tim Steidten as sporting director may aid their pursuit of defender Piero Hincapie this summer.
The Evening Standard reported on the latest development behind the scenes in north London.
Tottenham are ready to finish the season without a permanent manager or director of football.
They will not play in the Champions League next season and may miss out on European qualification entirely.
Finding the proper sporting director and manager will be critical to Tottenham’s future success.
The club is currently at a tipping point, with all of the teams surrounding them developing or making significant expenditures.
Tim Steidten is one person who has been linked to the sporting director.
Steidten was a player in Germany’s lower leagues before becoming a scout.
He joined Bayer Leverkusen after rising through the ranks at Werder Bremen and becoming their director of football.
Tottenham are interested in Tottenham defender Piero Hincapie, and while Steidten has already left the club, he may still have an impact on his future.
The German was instrumental in bringing in the ‘fantastic’ defender in 2021.
Steidten could play a part in Tottenham’s acquisition of Hincapie.
According to the Evening Standard, Steidten is’responsible for luring a number of intriguing young talents to the club, including Edmond Tapsoba, Jeremie Frimpong, and Piero Hincapie – a centre-back who is adored by Spurs.’
Tottenham’s defense is one area where they need to improve this summer.
They might remain with Antonio Conte’s back three formation or adapt to a back four without knowing who their new manager will be.
Ryan Mason favored the latter, although his decision has a significant impact on their recruitment.
Tottenham may be interested in Hincapie since he can play in both systems, and Steidten would make that move much easier.
The 44-year-old is currently unemployed, making a move to Spurs more likely.
With the transfer window on the horizon, he’d have a lot to do as soon as he arrived.
In addition to monitoring new arrivals, he must make a decision on Harry Kane’s future.
