Tottenham Hotspur beat Man Utd, Chelsea and Bayern Munich in race to sign Lovro Majer

Tottenham Hotspur have reignited their interest in Rennes midfielder Lovro Majer, according to reports.

Tottenham Hotspur are ‘interested’ in Majer, and his club is ‘open to an exit’ during the summer transfer season.

Spurs and the 25-year-old have been linked for some time, with reports circulating in 2021.

Majer, on the other hand, is now fighting for regular starts, and Tottenham will most certainly try to rebuild their roster in the summer.

According to JF, the Croatia international is going through a ‘tough phase’ at the club this season.

He has had to make do with a rotational position this season, making only 13 starts in 27 Ligue 1 games.

Rennes are ‘clearly open’ to a transfer happening, according to the report.

They appear to have set an initial target of €30-35 million (£26.5-31 million).

However, due to Majer’s lack of playing time, they may have to decrease their expectations.

Spurs, for example, consider him as a ‘skilled and potential player’ and are ‘ready to invest’ despite this.

Furthermore, Majer’s asking price was apparently much greater earlier this season.

Foot Mercato said a few months back that Rennes valued its player at €60 million (about £53 million).

If Tottenham acquire a Croatian midfielder, he will almost certainly be compared to Spurs great Luka Modric.

Majer, on the other hand, is no stranger to this. He’s been compared to Modric for a long time, and he admits it’s ‘great’ to hear such things.

According to the Ligue 1 website, the alleged Spurs target has drawn similarities to Emile Smith Rowe and Houssem Aouar.

This summer could be the ideal time for Tottenham to make a move for Majer.

The ‘elegant’ midfielder no longer plays a key position in Rennes’ squad, appears to be on the cheap, and, at 25, is entering his prime years.
