According to Turkish media, Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson.
Both teams are trying to bolster their defenses this summer, with Takvim claiming that Tottenham is the’most serious buyer’ interested in Nelsson.Meanwhile, Fanatik reports that Arsenal and Sevilla have also expressed interest in signing the 24-year-old.
The Danish international has a release clause of £25 million (£21.5 million) and has impressed for Galatasaray this season, making 33 league games as they won their 23rd Super Lig title.
Tottenham Hotspur have been following Nelsson’s growth for some time, but they now face heavy competition from their neighbors, Arsenal, who are looking to strengthen their defensive alternatives.
Nelsson, who is presently playing for Fenerbahce, has made waves since joining Galatasaray from FC Copenhagen in August 2021. Over the last two seasons, the Danish international has quietly established himself as one of Europe’s most underappreciated defenders.
With 80 appearances for Galatasaray, Victor Nelsson has shown to be a trustworthy player at the heart of the defense. While his primary responsibility is to stop opposing attacks, the 24-year-old Dane has also contributed two goals and one assist to his team’s cause.
Tottenham’s interest in Nelsson is unsurprising. The defensive unit has struggled under Antonio Conte’s leadership, exposing the need for reinforcements. With Cristian Romero as their only reliable center defender, the addition of Nelsson would surely strengthen their defense.
