Tottenham Hotspur have dismissed seven players after their contracts with the club expired at the end of June, according to The Daily Mail.
The Ange Postecoglou era is poised to begin in north London, and a roster revamp is underway. The exits point to a busy period for Daniel Levy and his team, both in terms of departures and additions.
While none of the seven players released are legitimate starters, they do include former PSG standout Lucas Moura. The Brazilian will be remembered for his heroics throughout our UEFA Champions League campaign in 2018-19. However, his influence at the club was dwindling, and the time has come for both sides to part ways.
Romain Mundle, a kid that Tottenham wanted to keep, is also on the way out. The 20-year-old, however, was unable to agree to a contract extension and will now join Belgian giants Standard Liege. It remains to be seen whether this is a mistake we will come to regret.
Jamie Bowden, Kallum Cesay, Malachi Fagan-Walcott, Roshaun Mathurin, and Marques Muir are among those leaving. We wish them the best of luck as they embark on new adventures.
Tottenham have also been active in the transfer market this summer. Following Postecoglou’s arrival, transfer activity has sped up, with three players now on board.
The loan of Dejan Kulusevski was extended, and Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison were brought in to strengthen the goalkeeping and number 10 positions. That’s a good start to the summer, and hopefully we can build on it since we need to be in or around the top four next season.
The centre-back position is up next, and we need to add at least one player to strengthen the backline.Edmond Tapsoba and Micky Van de Ven have been mentioned as possible replacements. It remains to be seen who we sign.
