Tottenham Hotspur is currently in a difficult situation, to put it mildly.
Spurs fired Antonio Conte last week after his explosive post-Southampton press conference.
Fabio Paratici was tasked with assisting Tottenham in finding a replacement for Conte in the Spurs dugout.
However, FIFA has now extended the ban on Tottenham’s managing director to all international activities.
It remains to be seen what happens at Spurs in terms of the Italian’s position.
According to Dean Jones, Tottenham could be interested in Monaco director Paul Mitchell.
The 41-year-old has previously worked with Tottenham, assisting the club in the acquisition of players such as Dele Alli, Son Heung-min, Kieran Trippier, and Toby Alderweireld.
Mitchell has also previously worked for MK Dons, Southampton, and RB Leipzig.
Foot scouting outlet His portfolio was described as “impressive, to say the least.” “It’s almost unbelievable.”
Jones claimed on GiveMeSport that Spurs’ interest in Mitchell is still in its early stages.
He also mentioned Mauricio Pochettino, who worked alongside Mitchell at N17, possibly returning.
Jones wrote, “Poch maintains a healthy relationship with Levy and is open to a return.” “However, there is a recent sense that the Tottenham chairman is reconsidering the benefits of such a return.”
“He’s lost interest in the idea. That was not the case in the months leading up to Conte’s departure, with sources claiming that it would take Fabio Paratici to come up with a “fail-proof” option for Levy not to return to his former boss.
“It would be incorrect to say Poch is completely insane. If Paratici decides to leave Tottenham permanently, Poch may be able to exercise more overall control.
“There are also whispers that 41-year-old Paul Mitchell, who recently announced his departure from Monaco as Sporting Director, may be considered at a high level.”
“Nothing yet on that front, but it’s early days.”
Paratici was barred from participating in Italian Football Federation activities for 30 months in January.
This was part of an investigation into alleged financial mismanagement at Juventus, which resulted in the suspension of 11 other officials and the deduction of 15 points from the club.
FIFA has now extended Paratici’s ban to include all international activities, effectively rendering him unable to perform external duties at Tottenham.
According to Sky Sports, Spurs issued a statement saying they received “no advance notice” from FIFA.
“We are urgently seeking clarification from FIFA regarding the details of the extension and its deviation from the FIGC [the Italian FA] sanction,” the club said in a statement.
“We would like to emphasize that when Fabio conducted the interview on club channels yesterday, neither he nor the club had any indication that FIFA had made this decision, based on the fact that the FIGC sanction was taken on 20 January 2023 and remains subject to an appeal on 19 April 2023.”
Paratici has 10 days to file an appeal with FIFA’s appeals committee.
