Tottenham Hotspur is planning to recruit two Southampton players

Southampton have been demoted from the Premier League, and Tottenham Hotspur are contemplating a’savage’ double raid for two of its key players, captain James Ward-Prowse and goalkeeper Gazunu.

A look at Saints’ squad would lead some to believe that the team they have was never strong enough to survive in the Premier League to begin with. Some, though, stand out.

Che Adams, Duje Caleta-Car, Bazunu, and Ward-Prowse have all demonstrated that they have what it takes to flourish at a Premier League team. Spurs are taking note.

Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Aston Villa are all interested in the English central midfielder, according to the Mail (h/t Express). The player’s contract does not include a relegation clause.

Given Southampton’s recent Premier League history, it’s possible he never considered relegation to the Championship as a significant concern. Spurs are interested in both the 28-year-old set-piece specialist and Bazunu.

According to the Mail, Spurs could make a 15 million pound bid for the 21-year-old Irish goalkeeper. He is absolutely someone to keep an eye on.

Bazunu appears to be an agile, swift, comfortable with the ball player with the potential to become a star. While Ward-Prowse will provide depth to a midfield that already has Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur, Bazunu has the potential to be a first-team starter.

Hugo Lloris is set to depart the club this summer and has accepted a contract with an unknown Saudi Arabian team. At 35, Fraser Forster isn’t really first-team material. As a result, if Spurs can pull it off, this would be a shrewd double transfer, especially given that Bazunu could be a cheaper alternative to Brentford’s David Raya.

Of course, other clubs will be keeping an eye on demoted teams and the players that may be available. However, the Spurs must act quickly and not waste time debating.
