Tottenham Hotspur are said to be in contact with former Spain head coach Luis Enrique about the club’s managerial vacancy.
Tottenham are now looking for a new manager after Antonio Conte was fired as manager last month.
The North London club chose to hire Conte’s deputy Cristian Stellini as interim manager until the conclusion of the season, giving them time to look for a permanent manager.
Enrique has been considered as a possible candidate for the position, with the 52-year-old looking for work after stepping down as Spain’s national team head coach after the 2022 World Cup.
According to The Telegraph, the Spurs administration intends to contact Enrique and might start talks as soon as this week.
According to the article, there is no indication that Enrique is Tottenham’s first option or that he would be offered the job.
Enrique has not coached a club team since leaving Barcelona in 2014 for three years.
He won two La Liga crowns, three Copa del Rey trophies, a Champions League, a Spanish Super Cup, a UEFA Super Cup, and a Club World Cup during his tenure at Camp Nou.
The Spaniard is said to desire to return to management in England, although Tottenham could face competition from Chelsea.
The Blues leadership has already interviewed Enrique, who is said to be eager to take over as manager at Stamford Bridge.
Following Graham Potter’s resignation, Enrique hoped to be offered the opportunity to begin work at Chelsea immediately.
However, the Chelsea board chose to appoint Frank Lampard as interim manager until the end of the season.
Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann is also on Tottenham’s shortlist, but he has been interviewed by Chelsea, as has Enrique.
Arne Slot of Feyenoord and Vincent Kompany of Burnley have both been mentioned as possible options.
Mauricio Pochettino has also been mentioned, although there is no hint that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will go back to their former manager.
