Tottenham Hotspur wants to sign outstanding La Liga star Lee Kang-in from RCD Mallorca this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The 22-year-old has had an outstanding season in La Liga, scoring five goals and assisting five times. Although Atletico Madrid is also thought to be interested in the South Korean international, Tottenham appears to be the frontrunner in the race to sign him.
The North London club is said to be “very interested” in signing the versatile forward, who can play in any position across the front three. Kang-in’s return to Tottenham’s roster might bring much-needed depth in the attack since Harry Kane has been carrying the team for quite some time.
While the Englishman is without a doubt one of the best strikers in the world, he requires more assistance from his teammates. Kang-in, with his flair and goal-scoring ability, might be a valuable boost to the Spur’s attack.
Furthermore, the chance to play alongside his compatriot Son Heung-Min could be enticing for the young attacker. The South Korean combination may form a dangerous front-line partnership, with their speed and talent generating difficulties for any opposing defense.
Kang-in is still fairly young, which means he has space for progress and may become even better with time. Playing against some of the Premier League’s greatest defenders would only help him develop and reach his full potential.
Although Kang-in’s contract includes a €30 million release clause, Tottenham has the financial clout to pay for him. They will try to sign the South Korean before their competitors.
It remains to be seen whether Kang-in will reject away the chance to play for a team like Atletico Madrid. The Premier League’s allure may be too much to refuse.
Tottenham’s level is not enough to use Kang-in Lee.
