Tottenham Hotspur resume with full force in concrete talks to sign €25m young powerful defender

Tottenham Hotspur have a surplus of left-backs, with Sergio Reguilón returning from a loan spell at Atletico Madrid to join Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie, but sources claim the North London club is still looking to bolster that position.

According to Sky Sports Italy (via Mondo Napoli), Tottenham are interested in signing Andrea Cambiaso and have contacted his agency to discuss a possible move this summer.

The 23-year-old joined Juventus from Genoa in 2022 but has yet to play for the Old Lady after being loaned out to Bologna shortly after his arrival. Cambiaso will have competition from Alex Sandro, Gianluca Frabotta, and Luca Pellegrini when he returns to Turin, so he may struggle for playing time next season.

Juventus wants to keep the Italian U21 international but is willing to sell for the appropriate price. According to the source, Tottenham will have to spend €25 million (£21 million) to secure his signature. Cambiaso’s desire to leave Juve just one year after joining remains to be seen, since he has yet to make a first-team appearance.

Last season, the 23-year-old averaged more tackles per league game (1.8) than all but three of Tottenham’s regulars. He had more interceptions per game (0.8) than Davies (0.6) and Emerson Royal (0.7), and was on par with Pedro Porro (0.8), making him an excellent fullback option.
