Sergio Reguilon is expected to leave Tottenham
The report backs up what we have heard from several sources over recent weeks by stating that Reguilon is expected to seal a permanent exit from Tottenham before the deadline.
However, it is suggested that the Spaniard’s departure may leave Spurs short of options at left-back. As a result, it is suggested that the Lilywhites may make a late move to sign a backup to Destiny Udogie.
This report from GiveMeSport comes just two days after Football.London’s Alasdair Gold identified the left-back area as the one gap that needs filling at Tottenham.
Do Spurs need a new left-back?
Gold pointed out that Ange Postecoglou’s decision to bring on Djed Spence at left-back in the latter stages of the clash against Everton could be proof that the Spurs boss plans to use Ben Davies as cover for central defence instead.
He questioned whether Spence might be exposed out of position at left-back against the better sides and suggested that the Australian coach might thus want to add a suitable backup to Udogie.
The transfer window slams shut on Friday at 11 pm so Spurs will have to get moving if they do want a new left-back before the deadline.
Spurs Web Opinion
I think Postecoglou has the backup left-back position covered between Spence, Davies and Micky van de Ven.
If Tottenham do make a late signing, I think it will either be a young centre-back or a number eight.
