Tottenham in deep negotiation with Nottingham Forest to sign youngster this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are still interested in Nottingham Forest midfielder Brennan Johnson.

According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are still interested in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Brennan Johnson during the current summer transfer window.

After a strong season at the City ground in 2022-23, the 22-year-old is gaining a lot of attention. Johnson rose through the ranks at Nottingham and is now one of the club’s finest players, as his reputation grows.

The Welshman is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also do a job out wide if needed. A solid dribbler with an eye for a pass, the youngster is tailor-made for Ange Postecoglou’s attacking setup. The Ability to think out side the box and link up well with teammates should help Tottenham evolve into a side with a multi-pronged serpent leading its attack.

Johnson is attracting much attention from other Premier League clubs but Forest continue to stand firm. Brentford recently had a £35m bid turned down and it remains to be seen if the Bees will up their offer in the coming weeks.

Forest value Johnson at £50 million, a large sum for a player who has just played one season in the Premier League. However, at the age of 22, he will only improve and is a long-term investment. Tottenham will undoubtedly benefit from having him on their roster.

Spurs have already signed an offensive midfielder in James Maddison this summer. By bringing in Johnson, Postecoglou will be able to rotate the former Leicester City player and also play with twin number tens behind a center forward. Tottenham should find it tough to predict, giving them an edge in terms of putting together a flowing assault.

With Harry Kane’s future uncertain, it is doubtful whether Spurs regard another number 10 as a priority at this time. Tottenham have considerably more pressing issues this summer, with a centre-back and a first-choice goalkeeper still to be signed.

With the start of the new season only a few weeks away, the north London team still has a lot of work to do. It remains to be seen whether Johnson will move up the wishlist before the window closes.
