Barcelona is allegedly asking roughly £12.8 million to trade Franck Kessie this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur interested.
This is according to Sport, who claims that Barcelona is aware of Tottenham’s interest in the midfielder.
Spurs have already made moves this summer to sign Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and Manor Solomon, but they are in severe need of defensive reinforcements.
Tottenham have been widely linked with moves for Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba from the Bundesliga.
However, The Times claimed yesterday that Tottenham could make a move for Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie. According to sources in Spain, Barcelona is willing to let Kessie go cheap this summer.
According to Sport, Barcelona is ‘informed’ of Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich’s interest in Kessie.
The outlet speculates that a departure from Camp Nou might happen as soon as Xavi’s players return from their pre-season tour next week.
Barca has informed potential suitors that they must pay at least 15 million euros (£12.8 million) to let Kessie go.
Kessie has battled to establish himself in Barcelona’s starting lineup since joining from AC Milan last summer.
During his time in Milan, the 26-year-old was dubbed a’very exceptional’ talent and was one of the standout performances in Serie A during the 2021-22 season.
Of course, Spurs may have to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the coming weeks, with the Dane highly linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.
Kessie would undoubtedly fit the criteria if he could rediscover the form that landed him in Spain.
Concerns would be raised about the Ivory Coast international’s lack of playing time over the past year. However, at just under £13 million, it would be a low-risk move from Spurs’ perspective.
