Tottenham plotting fast move to sign £39m attacking midfielder better 10 times better than Bruno Fernandes

Tottenham are reportedly interested in bringing Pedro Goncalves, who was sold by Wolves in 2019, to the Premier League.

Spurs were impressed by the Portugal international’s performances for Sporting Lisbon while scouting Pedro Porro, according to 90min.

Tottenham have kept an eye on Goncalves even after completing a £39 million deal for Porro.

Spurs have been joined in scouting the 24-year-old by Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Newcastle, according to 90min.

However, the north Londoners are believed to be showing the most interest in Goncalves.

The Sporting Lisbon No.28 looks likely to follow in the footsteps of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Bruno Fernandes, with his agent, Jorge Pires, already describing him as a “new” version of the latter.

In his 42 games this season, Goncalves has scored 18 goals and provided 12 assists.

You may recall the Chaves-born forward scoring from the halfway line in Tottenham’s recent Europa League win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, which should make him a fan favorite among Spurs fans.

TOTTENHAM NEED SOMEONE LIKE PEDRO GONCALVES

Goncalves, in our opinion, is exactly the type of player Spurs require – they don’t have anyone like him.

The Portuguese maestro is a player who, like Bernardo Silva and Martin degaard, floats around in various offensive zones behind the striker until springing up with a key moment.

Tottenham’s midfield is a little more tenacious, with players like Pierre-Emile Hjbjerg and Oliver Skipp, who are both strong workers defensively but lack creative skill going forward.

Finally, it will come down to who Daniel Levy chooses to replace Antonio Conte with – there wasn’t really a No.10 slot for someone like Goncalves in the Italian system, for example.

Nonetheless, if Tottenham has even a remote possibility of signing Goncalves this summer under the proper manager, they must seize it.
