The situation of Clement Lenglet at Tottenham Hotspur has received an interesting update from the Spanish media today.
With the centre-back on loan from Barcelona until the end of the season, Spurs would need to reach an agreement with Barcelona to make the move permanent.
According to Fichajes, Lenglet has become a vital player for Tottenham, which is why they will pursue the trade with Barça.
It is suggested that a club agreement would not be a huge issue. This is because the La Liga heavyweights set a price for the sale of roughly €20 million, and Spurs’seem eager to pay’.
The most difficult challenge would be persuading the athlete. That’s because, while Lenglet is “interested in staying in London,” he is concerned about Tottenham’s future.
According to Fichajes, the player has ‘paused’ the negotiations for the time being because he wants to meet with the club’s next manager to discuss his plans.
Lenglet is said to want a “team with aspirations and a solid project” at Spurs, but won’t know for sure until he talks to the incoming manager. So it will be some time before the team can move forward with his deal.
