Will Andiyapan has been sighted in first-team training as Tottenham Hotspur prepare to meet Manchester United on Thursday.
A natural center-back by trade, the teenager, who joined Spurs from Arsenal at the age of 14, is regarded as one of the club’s most promising young prospects.
So much so that, as Tottenham Hotspur prepares to face Manchester United, Will Andiyapan has been spotted practicing with the senior team.
The 18-year-old has been described as a’versatile defender’ by the club’s official website, who also stated that he is ‘capable of playing anywhere across the back line.’
While some Spurs fans may believe that Andiyapan has a chance to start versus United following their team’s shambolic defensive performance against Newcastle United, this is a case of getting carried away.
Getty Images, however, have filmed Will Andiyapan pressing Richarlison and playing alongside Japhet Tanganga at Tottenham training ahead of his team’s next match against Manchester United.
Ryan Mason, the caretaker leader, has undoubtedly given the young buck a great vote of confidence.
It’s no accident that Cristian Stellini’s team was thrashed 6-1 by the Magpies on the day he elected to play a back four.
While Stellini’s choice of full-backs is debatable, it does highlight the frailties of his individual defenders.
Will Andiyapan might become a starting center defender for Tottenham in the future if he proves to be the genuine deal in training ahead of games such as those against Manchester United.
Spurs would benefit from Andiyapan’s ascension, given their current choices in the position are, to say the least, unimpressive.
