Tottenham released final list of two successful candidates to take over as new coach in few weeks

Ruben Amorim is on Spurs’ reserve list alongside Roberto De Zerbi and Xabi Alonso.

The Times’ Tom Allnutt discussed Spurs’ search for a new manager on The Tottenham Way Podcast, and like other writers, he believes Julian Nagelsmann is the club’s main priority.

However, with Nagelsmann stalling talks owing to a lack of clarity regarding the Sporting Director issue, Spurs have a list of backups, which includes Amorim, De Zerbi, and Alonso, according to Allnutt.

Allnutt revealed what he knows about the Spurs’ backup managers.

“If they can’t persuade him to take over, and we know there are obstacles there,” Allnutt explained. “The second-tier list is a list of names that tick all of the profile boxes we mentioned there now, Ruben Amorim, De Zerbi, Xabi Alonso, there’s interest there now.”

They are of a certain type.

This update makes it quite obvious what Tottenham is looking for in a new manager.

Indeed, the oldest manager featured here, De Zerbi, is only 43 years old, indicating that Spurs seek a new manager who is young and full of new ideas.

Ruben Amorim is perhaps the most intriguing gaffer on this list. Amorim has been extremely brilliant at Sporting in recent years, and while De Zerbi and Alonso have had fantastic seasons, Amorim has done it over a longer period of time.

It remains to be seen who Spurs sign, but whether it’s Nagelsmann, Amorim, Alonso, or De Zerbi, the future seems bright at the north London club.
