Tottenham rush in as club submit bid to sign 25-year star amid frustration over price-tag

Tottenham Hotspur continue to consider Robert Sanchez as they prepare for life beyond Hugo Lloris.

According to a report from talkSPORT, Tottenham would not stand in the way of the Frenchman if he decides to leave the club this summer.

Hugo Lloris’ exit has been speculated about for some time. His form has deteriorated significantly since signing his most current contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Sun reported this week that Tottenham are anxious to sign David Raya. However, they are only willing to pay half of the £40 million demanded by Brentford for the Spaniard.

So they might end up focusing their attention on Robert Sanchez. According to talkSPORT, Sanchez is another candidate for Spurs in their search for a new number one.

This past year was a strange campaign for the 25-year-old. He had previously been described as ‘outstanding’ for his form with Brighton.

In March, though, he was replaced by Jason Steele. And he would only make one more appearance before the campaign ended.

At one point, he wasn’t even training with the Seagulls first squad. And he was left out of Roberto De Zerbi’s team for the final five Premier League games of the season.

That would imply that Brighton will be willing to selling this summer. And, with Brentford refusing to pay Raya’s fee, Tottenham may see Sanchez as a superior option.

Tottenham fans would undoubtedly prefer that their club simply go out and sign the finest goalie on the market, regardless of the cost. However, that does not appear to be the case in the transfer window.

And it appears like they will have a number of difficulties to address this summer. So, if Brighton are willing to let Sanchez leave for a modest fee, it could be a wise move for all sides.
