Tottenham Hotspur are still keen on Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez but may now face a battle with both Arsenal and Chelsea.
Feyenoord hitman Santiago Gimenez was scouted by London’s biggest clubs on Sunday afternoon.
That is according to 90Min, who claim that Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all had a look at Gimenez.
The Mexican forward was leading the line in attack as Feyenoord headed to Amsterdam to take on bitter rivals Ajax.
Gimenez ran riot, scoring the opening two goals before setting up Igor Paixao for number three.
The game ended up being abandoned as Ajax fans bombarded the pitch with flares and fireworks as they attempted to stop the embarrassment.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur scout Gimenez
London’s three biggest clubs all had scouts in attendance as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham all watched Gimenez.
We can understand why; Arsenal are seemingly in the market for a centre forward amid links to Ivan Toney.
Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus are under the microscope right now with Arsenal seemingly lacking some killer instinct up top.
Chelsea have been linked with Toney too and Gimenez now appears to be emerging as another option for both clubs.
The Blues desperately need another attacker in January and whilst Gimenez isn’t proven at the top level, he can give Nicolas Jackson some much-needed help.
Tottenham very interested in Santiago Gimenez
News of Tottenham’s interest isn’t a surprise.
FIFA agent Morris Pagniello told Medio Tiempo in August that he heard Tottenham would ‘love’ to sign Gimenez.
Tottenham had an interest in Feyenoord boss Arne Slot over the summer and Gimenez may have popped on the radar as a result.
The 22-year-old hit 23 goals last season and has been in blistering form to start this term too, hitting eight goals in six games if you count Sunday’s abandoned game.
Hailed as ‘really fast’ by Dirk Kuyt, Gimenez has the talent to become a really complete forward in the coming years and Tottenham may well face a fight with their rivals for his signature.
