Tottenham Hotspur’s star is Ange Postecoglou’s “ideal player.”
According to Sky Sports writer Michael Bridge, Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is the “perfect player” for manager Ange Postecoglou.
The 25-year-old is reportedly garnering interest from Italy, although he is unlikely to leave the north London club this summer.
According to journalist Gaston Edul, Juventus are interested in signing Romero.
According to Sky Sports, the Argentine joined Tottenham from the Old Lady’s Serie A rivals Atalanta in a £42 million deal.
According to Transfermarkt, he was a vital player for Spurs last season, making 34 appearances across all competitions.
Romero also helped Argentina win the World Cup, so the 2022/23 season will be one he never forgets.
Bridge believes Romero is the ideal center-back for his new boss.
The Sky Sports reporter told GIVEMESPORT: “Postecoglou, he loves the defenders pushing up, loves them with the long balls, and he’s just the perfect player for him.”
As previously stated, Romero was a key player for Tottenham last season, and that is unlikely to alter in the 2023/24 season under Postecoglou.
According to WhoScored, the Argentina international led the Spurs squad in tackles (2.5), interceptions (1.6), and clearances (3.6) per game (minimum of five games played).
Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider in February: “Yes, he treads a fine line at times, but I think it is good for Tottenham.” He is the type of character and player they require on the team. Nobody else brings the same level of aggression as he does.
“I’d gladly have him sent off every now and then to keep that little bit of bite in his game.” Spurs haven’t had it in a long time.”
Tottenham failed to qualify for Europe after placing ninth in the Premier League last season, leaving the World Cup winner and his teammates upset.
However, things are starting to look up on Hotspur Way. The north London team now has a permanent manager, and James Maddison has just joined from Leicester City.
A Tottenham lineup including Maddison, Romero, and Harry Kane could be exciting to watch next season.
