Tottenham Spurs target 100% exit-bound as Arsenal eye £25m next Jude Bellingham
In the immortal words of that fella who used to wear a Spider-Man suit and a pair of swimming goggles on Vine, ‘It’s Wednesday, my dudes’. And of course, you know what the means… Premier League transfer rumours! Then again, we do one of these round-ups on a daily basis, so I guess every day means ‘Premier League transfer rumours!’
Anyways, there’s a distinct London focus to today’s batch of speculation, with Chelsea chasing goalkeepers, Ivan Toney chasing a Brentford exit, and Arsenal chasing a lad labelled ‘the next Jude Bellingham’. No pressure there, then.
You’re never going to believe this, but Chelsea are being linked with more potential signings! I know, right? So unlike them! According to 90min, despite having signed Robert Sanchez and Dorde Petrovic for a combined £39 million over the summer, the Blues could well be in the market for a new goalkeeper soon enough, and are keeping a particular eye on Everton and England number one Pickford.
The Toffees could be forced into a sale next summer amid ongoing financial uncertainty, and if they do part company with the 29-year-old, it is suggested that Mauricio Pochettino’s men could swoop. Also on their radar are Porto stopper Diogo Costa, and Valencia talent Giorgi Mamardashvili.
The 3AM Verdict: Despite signing Sanchez and Petrovic over the summer, it is hard to shake the suspicion that Chelsea could still do with reinforcements between the sticks. Pickford, for all of his detractors, is one of the finest shot stoppers and distributors in the Premier League on his day, and it does feel as if a move to one of the division’s more competitive sides is long overdue.
Toney set for exit
Elsewhere, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has insisted that Brentford talisman Ivan Toney is destined to leave the club in the near future. The striker is currently serving a ban for gambling-related offences, but remains a target for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham.
Speaking about the 27-year-old, he said: “I think Toney is going to leave Brentford in 2024 – 100%, that’s the feeling of those close to him, so let’s see if that’s going to be January or the summer transfer window.”
The 3AM Verdict: Were it not for his ban, you suspect that there is a good chance Toney might have been prised away from Brentford before now. The striker is a fine player who has proven time and time again that he has what it takes to thrive in the Premier League, and whoever does end up signing him will be bringing in a real asset. The race for his signature begins now…
The 3AM Verdict: Another winger capable of playing on the right would be nice for Arsenal – if nothing else just to ease some of the burden on Bukayo Saka. Certainly, Bynoe-Gittens is an exciting talent who already boasts Champions League experience at the age of 19, and if he continues his current trajectory, the £25 million release clause in his contract will start to look like an absolute bargain.
