This summer, the winger has been linked with a move to Tottenham from Manchester United.
The transfer window officially opened last month, and Tottenham Hotspur have been working hard to upgrade their playing team ahead of the 2023/24 season.
They began the summer by hiring Ange Postecoglou from Scottish heavyweights Celtic as their new head coach, and they have already made four first-team acquisitions.
After loan spells, Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro have completed permanent signings to the club, and they have been joined by attacking midfielder James Maddison and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Spurs may still be looking for new players, and another new forward could be on the way after Lucas Moura left on a free transfer.
Postecoglou might secure a deal to sign Jadon Sancho, a rumored £50 million transfer target, to replace the Brazilian forward.
Since joining Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021, the England international has scored nine goals in 55 Premier League games.
His tally of 12 goals and six assists in 79 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions means he has averaged a goal contribution per 4.39 matches during his time at Old Trafford.
Moura, on the other hand, scored 39 goals and provided 27 assists in 221 competitive matches for Spurs, averaging one appearance every 3.35 games.
The former PSG star, like United’s Sancho, can play on either flank or through the middle of the pitch, making him a versatile option for Tottenham throughout the years.
Postecoglou may use the former Manchester City prospect on the left or right wing in north London, making him an important player to have in the club, especially following Moura’s departure, because he is not limited to a specific role or position.
Sancho has the potential to give far more in the final third than he has so far at United, with the 23-year-old wizard’s performances for Dortmund indicating that there is tremendous talent waiting to be discovered.
Scout Jacek Kulig referred to the young forward as a “phenomenon” during his time in Germany, and it’s easy to see why when you look at his numbers.
In 104 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund, the English wizard picked up 38 goals and 51 assists, equating to a direct involvement per 1.17 outings on average.
Sancho has had 12 or more league assists in each of his last three seasons in black and yellow and might provide Postecoglou with a much-needed creative spark if the Australian head coach can get him back to his best.
Ivan Perisic was Tottenham’s top assister in the Premier League last season, with eight, and he was one of only three players with more than five assists, implying that the club lacked an excellent playmaker to offer regular service to the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.
The United winger, who has struggled to find form at Old Trafford, has the untapped potential to be that player for Tottenham. As a result, Sancho might be a fantastic signing for Postecoglou and the ideal successor for Moura this summer.
