Tottenham tip to sign Manuel Ugarte as player has been named the world’s best young star

Manuel Ugarte, a Tottenham Hotspur target, has been named one of the world’s top young players.

ESPN has compiled a 39-player list of players aged 21 and under who are poised to take over the game in the coming years if they haven’t already.

Their first choice is Jude Bellingham.

Despite being only 20, England’s star is already knocking on the door of world-class status.

Pedri, Ansu Fati, Gavi, Eduardo Camavinga, and Josko Gvardiol are also on the list.

Ugarte, Sporting CP’s midfield maestro, makes the list at number 39.

The Uruguay international has had an outstanding season in Portugal, flourishing since the departures of Joao Palhinha and Matheus Nunes to the Premier League.

Earlier this season, Ugarte made headlines for being the best tackler in the Champions League.

The 21-year-old enjoys getting his hands dirty. He is, however, extremely neat in his possession. He already has a lot of teams interested in him because he has such a good all-around game.

Tottenham Hotspur is one of the teams said to be interested.

Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, represents him.

And he appears to have offered his South American client to a number of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Wolves, and Barcelona.

ESPN’s write up for him is highly encouraging.

“He’s determined, hardworking, and focused on improving the weaker aspects of his game,” they say. He is an unstoppable ball winner who attempts seven tackles per 90 minutes (at a success rate of 55%) and looks to press opponents and close gaps quickly.

“Technically, he’s a master of the fundamentals, with tight control, a solid short-to-long passing range, and a lack of flash.” He is astute, frequently selecting the best option after regaining possession, and plays to his strengths.”

This summer’s competition for Ugarte should be fierce.

This season, he has really shone in Portugal and would improve many starting XIs across Europe.

Ugarte is said to have a £53 million release clause. Sporting allegedly wants to agree on a new contract for the player that would increase that clause.

He was not going to be cheap.

However, whoever gets him will have a future superstar on their hands.
