Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alfie Devine is reportedly close to securing a loan transfer to Westerlo.
Although the Premier League transfer window has closed, Belgian clubs still have the opportunity to finalise deals.
This has paved the way for Devine’s potential move to the Belgian Pro League, where he is expected to gain valuable first-team experience.
Club insider Paul O’Keefe reported yesterday that talks are ongoing, with Westerlo leading the race to sign Devine on loan.
According to the latest update from Belgian outlet Gazet van Antwerpen, Tottenham have reached an agreement with the club.
At Westerlo, Devine will join a team keen to integrate young talents into their squad. This opportunity offers him the chance to develop in a competitive environment, following in the footsteps of fellow Tottenham youngster Luka Vuskovic, who is also impressing in Belgium.
Devine, who joined Tottenham from Wigan Athletic in 2020 for around £300,000, has already made history as the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer, netting in an FA Cup match in January 2021.
Despite limited senior appearances for Spurs, he showcased his potential during loan spells at Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle last season, contributing three goals and six assists in 43 appearances.
His impressive record with Tottenham’s U21s, where he scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 49 games, further underscores his talent. Overall, Devine has amassed 25 goals and 13 assists in 116 appearances across all levels.
This loan move to Westerlo could be a significant step in Devine’s development as he continues to build his career.
