Tottenham is on the verge of signing James Maddison for £40 million plus add-ons, a move that should boost Harry Kane’s chances for the 2023-24 season.
Kane just agreed to a move to Bayern Munich, a transfer rumour that will most likely amount to frenetic tweets, regurgitated stories, and increasing back-and-forth speculation from numerous sources.
Regardless of the suitor, Tottenham will need to receive an offer of at least €100 million, if not more, before considering selling Kane.
Kane will not take being kept captive lightly, but a similar situation occurred in 2021 when Tottenham’s star player arrived late to pre-season training after not being dealt to Manchester City.
The fact that England teammate James Maddison is on his way to north London may provide Kane with a fresh viewpoint, some solace, and, maybe, some enthusiasm.
The two have a great rapport, and Maddison has the ability to improve on Kane’s already impressive numbers. Fox, 26, can find a seeing-eye, incisive pass but also finish clinically.
Suiting up in the No. 8 spot, right behind Kane, is an ideal situation for both players to boost their offensive outputs.
With a fit Son Heung-min and a revitalized, newly signed Dejan Kulusevski in the mix, you have one of, if not the, strongest offensive quartets in the Premier League.
Furthermore, Kane and the aforementioned trifecta will benefit from Ange Postecoglou’s unrelenting determination to play a thrilling brand of aggressive football.
That sounds quite fantastic, doesn’t it, Harry?
With Ange’s offensive brilliance at his disposal, Kane could exceed Alan Shearer’s all-time goal scoring record of 267 in a season and a half if the Maddison trade is finalized.
Who knows, with the acquisition of a new center-back, Spurs might be good enough to compete for a Champions League spot or a domestic trophy (now I’m reaching), completely altering Kane’s desire to depart.
That is, at least, the theory. Only Sir Kane knows if that is true. Let us hope so for our sake.
