All of Tottenham’s board confess to be big fans of Nottingham Forest’s best young star

Tottenham’s hierarchy is a big fan of Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson. The Reds must brace themselves for summer bids for the 21-year-old, especially if they are relegated from the Premier League.

Fabio Paratici has previously scouted Johnson, according to Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold. Last season, he was at the City Ground quite frequently as the club monitored the form of Djed Spence, whom they did sign in the summer.

Johnson is one of the most important players for Forest. During 2022/23, the Reds forward scored nine goals in all competitions, including seven in the Premier League.

The Forest academy graduate, now 21, is maturing with each passing month. Last season, he scored 19 goals and had 10 assists as the Reds won promotion to the Premier League.

Steve Cooper is a big fan of Johnson and will be sad to see him go. He described him as ‘excellent’ after a 4-1 Carabao Cup win over Blackburn, with Johnson scoring twice.

The latest allegations are not surprising. It’s only natural that other clubs will look at Johnson now that he’s starting to shine in the Premier League.

Tottenham’s management is a big fan of Forest’s Johnson.

Any player would be interested in signing with a club like Tottenham. They are in the midst of yet another transition, but qualifying for the Champions League remains a viable option.

Johnson is unmistakably Forest. He came up through the ranks and was born in Nottingham, where he grew up supporting the club.

However, there will come a time when a bigger club will come calling. Forest fans will be upset, but that’s football, and big clubs will always want to sign players from the lower leagues.

If Forest can stay up, however, they will fancy keeping Johnson for a little while longer. The player signed a new four-year contract as recently as last summer and that does bode well.

Each player has a cost. If Forest are relegated, they will hope that if a club comes calling for Johnson, they will demand a large sum of money.
