Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou is said to want to “replace” two of his players as the club looks to sign one “incredible” player.
Spurs’ results under Postecoglou
Nobody could have predicted Postecoglou’s strong start to the season, nor could they have predicted Spurs’ best start to a season since their double win in 1961. The Lilywhites have won six of their first eight league games, remaining unbeaten during that time and sitting atop the Premier League table. Tottenham had to face stiff tests against Arsenal and Liverpool at the time, but they came through both matches unscathed.
Speaking after their 2-2 draw away to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last month, Postecoglou heaped praise on his Tottenham squad for a growing will and desire to improve as a team.
“There’s a real will and desire to become the team we want to be, which includes making sure that you’re disciplined and you’re buying into the team ethos and we had a really young team out there,” said Postecoglou to Tottenham’s official website
“Vic, that’s his first derby, Destiny, van de Ven, Pape Matar Sarr, Brennan, they’re all in their early twenties, Porro, even Kulusevski is only 23, so it was a young team, but I’m just super proud of the experienced players we did have in there,” said Kulusevski. Romero was amazing, Bissouma has been brilliant all year, Maddison was outstanding, and Sonny was simply on another level, not just his goals, which were outstanding, but his work rate, his work ethic was incredible.”
Who might the Spurs sign in January?
Despite their current excellent form, it has been suggested that the north Londoners may look to increase their ranks in the coming year. Indeed, Al-Ittihad winger Jota has been mentioned as a possible transfer target.
There are suggestions that the former Celtic star wants to rejoin with his ex-boss at Tottenham (90min), and it is thought that Postecoglou feels the same way. A recent story has given some light on this, with journalist Rudy Galetti providing a Jota transfer update for Tribal Football. He claims that Postecoglou’s “priority” on that side is to “replace” both Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon with another option, which has led to Tottenham’s interest in signing Jota next year.
Beyond that, nothing has been added, but we believe Jota might be a terrific complement to the Spurs combo. Last year, pundit Alan Hutton said that he is a huge fan of the “incredible” Portuguese.
“Jota’s only 23 years old, he’s still developing,” Hutton told Football.com. Insider.
“He’s probably only going to get better, and I believe he can.” For him to come from his parent club, where he hasn’t really been playing, what he’s done this season has been fantastic. Benfica is a huge club in its own right, but to come to another club where there’s a lot of pressure, to produce at such a young age, he’s risen to the occasion.
“Jota is the type of player that fans want to see.” He’s fascinating because he challenges people, makes things happen, scores goals, and checks all the boxes.”
I think we need a complete crucial striker like HARRY
