Transfer Insider Dean Jones has cautioned the club that allowing Harry Kane to join a Premier League opponent on a free transfer would be a huge mistake.
Kane’s contract with Tottenham expires next summer, and if he does not renew it this year, he will be free to depart.
However, Tottenham would suffer a significant financial setback if they were to lose their most valuable asset for free when they could sell him for £100 million this summer.
Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with the England striker, with United apparently making him their number one priority.
While Kane wants to stay in England and break Alan Shearer’s record, joining Premier League rivals such as Manchester United or Chelsea could be a possibility, with Stamford Bridge also a tempting destination if Pochettino joins the Blues.
However, Kane may not want to jeopardize his legacy at Tottenham by joining a London rival.
Jones, on the other hand, believes Tottenham are taking a huge risk by letting Kane run out his contract.
