Romanian outlet Digi Sport have claimed that Newcastle United have now made a bid for Tottenham target Radu Dragusin.
It has been well documented over recent weeks that Spurs will prioritise signing a central defender in January (90 min).
Dragusin, who has impressed since his switch to Genoa 18 months ago, is thought to be one of the names on Tottenham’s wishlist, with Tutto Juve reporter Mirko Di Natale suggesting earlier this month that the Lilywhites are exploring a move for the 21-year-old.
A couple of weeks ago, TMW reported that while Dragusin had signed a contract extension with Genoa, he has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with the club that he would be allowed to leave for a fee of €30m (£26m) in January.
Newcastle submit offer for Spurs-linked Dragusin
Digi Sport have now revealed that Newcastle have met Genoa’s asking price, with the Magpies said to have submitted a written £26m offer to the Serie A club.
The report states that while Dragusin is also on the radars of other Premier League side, including Spurs, Arsenal and West Ham, Newcastle have become ‘the first team to act’.
However, it is explained that Genoa have not yet given an answer to Eddie Howe’s men and are hoping there will be a bidding war for the centre-back since other teams are ‘ready to knock on the door’.
Spurs Web Opinion
Dragusin ticks plenty of boxes for Tottenham, given his age, price, aggressiveness, pace and technical quality. I would be surprised if Spurs allow the 21-year-old to go to Newcastle
