The Cleveland Browns are turning to Joe Flacco to be the team’s next starting quarterback
Flacco will start for the Browns on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams after Dorian Thompson-Robinson suffered a concussion last weekend against the Denver Broncos and hasn’t been cleared to play.
Cleveland started the season with Deshaun Watson at quarterback but he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery last month.
Backing up Flacco on Sunday will be PJ Walker, who has also started two games this season.
The Browns turn to Flacco, the 2012 Super Bowl MVP with the Baltimore Ravens, at a critical juncture of their season.
Despite all their troubles at quarterback, the Browns are 7-4 and currently in a playoff spot.
The chase for the final few postseason spots in the AFC is getting tighter, with five teams within a game of a Wild Card spot.
Flacco signed with the Browns less than two weeks ago and has already been given the keys to the offense.
Flacco most notably played for an AFC North division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, for a decade. He’s also spent time with the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos.
Since 1950, a team has started four different winning quarterbacks only seven times. The last occasion was the 2015 Houston Texans
