JUST IN: Newcastle United key player has passed away….

Against Newcastle, Arsenal will experience the new Premier League rule for the first time.

The 2023–2024 season saw the introduction of a new Premier League schedule regulation, but this will be the first time the Gunners are able to take advantage of it.

When Arsenal plays Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night, they will have to deal with the ramifications of a new Premier League rule.Eddie Howe’s squad takes on Mikel Arteta’s Gunners in an attempt to extend their remarkable winning run to six straight Premier League titles in 2024.

A new Premier League rule goes into effect on Saturdays, with kickoff times unique at 8 p.m. By preventing quick turnaround times, this regulation seeks to lessen the burden on teams that participated in midweek European matches.

Clubs participating in midweek European competitions used to have early Saturday kickoffs. But this scheduling technique frequently resulted in a shorter recovery period and a higher chance of injury.

Teams that recently lost 1-0 to Porto on Wednesday, like Arsenal, are especially happy about this scheduling change. The implementation of this rule gives teams more time to recuperate, improving player welfare and lowering the risk of injuries linked to quick turnarounds.

Although Newcastle has already experienced two Saturday kickoffs at 8 p.m. this season, Arsenal will be utilizing this new Premier League rule for the first time.

Even though Newcastle is accustomed to playing in the newly assigned slot, Arteta wants to adequately prepare his team to continue their historic winning streak.

In what has been an almost flawless year, Arteta and Arsenal have another chance to create history against Newcastle. Up to their midweek loss to FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League, the Gunners had won all five of their 2024 Premier League games.

With a win over Newcastle tonight, Arteta’s team will have the opportunity to make history by becoming the first Arsenal team to win all five of their league games to begin a calendar year.

Tonight, Arsenal plays Newcastle United, in part because of a new regulation designed to prevent short turnaround times between European matches. The schedule on Saturday is a little different, with three different start times and no lunchtime kickoff.

There are four games starting at 3 p.m., with Manchester City vs. Bournemouth starting at 5.30 p.m. Arsenal’s match against Eddie Howe’s team at the Emirates then marks the end of the day.

The Gunners’ chances of qualifying for the Champions League were cast doubt after a 1-0 loss at the Estadio do Dragao on Wednesday night. Additionally, a new rule has been implemented to assist teams in scheduling their time between domestic and European games.

According to this rule, teams that play on Wednesday nights in European competitions—as Arsenal did—will not be required to play on Saturdays at the customary 12:30 p.m. time. Rather, they’ll play at 8 p.m., which means that TNT Sports, which usually airs at this time, will still have the opportunity to select their weekly favorite.
