After yet another disappointing season with Spurs that will end without a trophy, there is increased speculation surrounding the England international.
Bayern Munich is one club said to be interested in the 29-year-old as they look for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who joined Barcelona last summer.
And Lahm, who retired from Bayern in 2017, believes Kane is the answer, telling Sky Sports: “Harry Kane is a game-changing centre-forward, a clear No9 but also with technical skills.”
“He’s a fantastic striker.” I believe he would be an excellent fit for Bayern Munich.
“Bayern has always had very good international strikers like Robert Lewandowski for this position, so we’ll see.”
“I’m excited to see what happens.”
Whether Bayern can meet Tottenham’s potential asking price remains to be seen with club chairman Daniel Levy desperate not to lose his talisman.
And it’s unclear where Kane would prefer to play, with the next contract he signs likely to be his final big deal before turning 30 this summer.
United remain one of the favorites to sign the striker, who surpassed Wayne Rooney as England’s all-time leading goalscorer in last week’s 2-1 win over Italy.
Erik ten Hag has made signing a forward a priority this summer, and Old Trafford officials agree, with the club ready to pay him £80 million to lure Kane away from north London.
Even so, Spurs are unlikely to sell to a direct rival in the Premier League, so that fee may not be enough.
It is for this reason that United legend Paul Scholes cannot get too excited about the news that his former club is interested in signing the Englishman.
“The trouble with the Harry Kane thing, we’d all love Harry Kane to come, of course we would,” he said on the Webby & O’Neill YouTube channel.
“However, I believe Tottenham could just tie you up until the very last day.”
“We know what Daniel Levy is like; we could put all of our eggs in one basket with Harry Kane and end up with nothing on the last day of the window.”
