Brighton midfielder should be favored at Swansea City over Preston or Plymouth: opinion
This 2023-24 season has been a very difficult season for the Swans, with the club having had a number of departures over the summer including managers and key players, and it was always expected to be a difficult season for the club.
Swansea have spent the majority of the season in the bottom half of the league and it will be up to Luke Williams to keep the club in that division.
The Welsh side have the advantage in the relegation zone, but there is still work to do to ensure they remain there. The club are expected to begin considering summer plans as soon as it is safe to do so, and Williams is keen to make his presence felt in the team. Indeed, transfer business may already be on the table, with Brighton & Hove Ellian midfielder Mark Leonard revealed to be a possible target for the Swans.
Swansea City are among the teams interested in Brighton’s Mark Leonard, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Romano added that as well as interest from the Swans, the midfielder was also on the radar of Preston North End and Plymouth Argyle.
The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Northampton Town for the second successive season after impressing with the Cobblers during his last two league seasons.
Leonard’s performance with the League One team seems to have gone under the radar, with all three teams monitoring his status.
The midfielder’s contract with the Seagulls runs until the summer of 2025, but the Premier League side have the option to extend it by a further year.
