Another name can be added to Nottingham Forest’s dash to find a goalkeeper on deadline day of the January transfer window, Las Palmas goalkeeper Álvaro Valles.
That’s according to SER Las Palmas, relayed by Marca, who report that Nottingham Forest bid €20m for the 26-year-old.
As most will know, Nottingham Forest had bids in all over the place for a new goalkeeper at the end of the January window, targeting several in a last-minute dash to find a replacement for Odysséas Vlachodimos and Matt Turner.
Neither appeared to have convinced Nuno Espirito Santo and so a new number one was sought out, with the club eventually securing a deal for Matz Sels, signing him from Strasbourg for €8m.
Before he arrived, though, a whole host of different names were linked with a move and in the weeks after the window closed, numerous reports have revealed other names they were looking at.
Valles can now be added to that list, with SER hosting Las Palmas president Miguel Ángel Ramírez and him revealing that he ‘rejected an offer of €20m in the month of January.’
He explained that Nottingham Forest made an offer on deadline day and the two sides were ‘negotiating’ a deal before they opted to sign Sels instead.
Las Palmas had refused an initial offer and instead pointed to the player’s clause. There is no mention of what price that’s set at, although it is presumably above €20m.
Either way, it was rejected, and Nottingham Forest turned elsewhere, leaving Valles on the long list of goalkeepers they considered signing.
