Cannon, Nelson, McAteer, Souttar – Leicester City injury update ahead of Birmingham fixture
Enzo Maresca provides an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of the Championship game against Birmingham City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon
Leicester City are close to having a fully-fit squad with Tom Cannon and Ben Nelson returning to the ranks for the home clash with Birmingham.
The young duo both picked up minor injuries during the international break, Cannon in training and Nelson while on duty with England Under-20s, and that ruled them out of the Easter fixtures against Bristol City and Norwich. But they’re now back in contention, and with no fresh concerns, it means City have just two players on the sidelines.
Kasey McAteer is improving in his recovery from a hamstring injury, but is still one or two weeks from returning. Harry Souttar is the only other player out, having suffered an injury while representing Australia a couple of weeks ago.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of the home clash with the Blues, Enzo Maresca said: “It’s just Kasey who is out and Harry Souttar who came back from international duty with a small problem. The rest, they are all available.
“We just need to wait day by day (on McAteer). He’s much better now. Hopefully in one or two weeks, he can be back.”
