Journalist makes claim as Leeds United preparing for swoop deal with Man City

A journalist claims that Leeds United is preparing for a summer swoop with Manchester City.
Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Shea Charles from Manchester City this summer.

Leeds have placed a strong emphasis on youth recruitment in previous transfer windows, bringing in players such as Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville, and Wilfried Gnonto in low-cost agreements.

Darko Gyabi is another player Leeds have signed from City’s youth system.

Leeds are interested in “Manchester City talent Shea Charles,” according to Di Marzio editor Ibrahim (@_Mo_Ibrahim on Twitter).

Leeds’ “interest dates back to the start of the season but has recently intensified,” according to the report.

Fabrizio Romano, according to Ibrahim, has underlined Borussia Dortmund’s interest in the brilliant 19-year-old at City.

Charles, who is a defensive midfielder with the ability to play at centre-back, is already a full Northern Ireland international and has picked up a depth of experience at youth level for City, playing 22 times in the Premier League 2 this season.

Leeds has no trouble pursuing some of City’s best young players. It’s a transfer strategy that could pay dividends for the team in the long run.

The problem that supporters will face

The problem is that guys like Gyabi have yet to be given a chance, and Charles may face the same fate in the future. If Leeds is going to sign guys like this, who are tearing it up in the Premier League 2, they need to start giving a path into the first team, no matter what level the club is playing at.
