Leeds United join race to sign €30m Ligue 1 Attacker as scout fully monitoring Belgian striker

Leeds United are among the clubs scouting Lens striker Lois Openda, who has played brightly in Ligue 1 this season.

In the summer of 2022, Openda was signed by Lens to replace Arnaud Kalimuendo, and he has not disappointed in northern France.

The 23-year-old has 15 goals in 31 Ligue 1 appearances, including two against domestic powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, he is being scouted by a number of clubs, including Leeds, with scouts from a variety of clubs often attending Lens’ matches.

Offers could come in during the summer transfer window, but it appears like Openda is content at Lens, especially given its proximity to his home country of Belgium.

The French side also wants to preserve Openda, but a price of €30 million could persuade Lens to reconsider.

Monaco, Marseille, Inter, Eintracht Frankfurt, and several undisclosed English clubs are among the striker’s other suitors.

Lens has signed a contract with Openda that will last until the summer of 2027.
