Outside of sport, James Garner has stated that he does not have a close relationship with his Everton teammates.
The midfielder confessed on Everton’s YouTube page that he is not invited to social functions.
Born on Merseyside, Garner finally made his return when he joined the Toffees in a £15 million deal from Manchester United last summer.
Garner has been one of Everton’s top performers this season, starting seven of their eight Premier League games following a tough first season marred by injuries.
The 22-year-old scored his first league goal against Bournemouth last time out and has rapidly become a fan favorite at Goodison Park, yet it appears that he keeps his relationships with his colleagues on the pitch and in training.
Both on and off the field
When asked whether he plays online games with the other players after football, James Garner
replied: “No, not really. Just with my mates from home. They’ve got their own little group and I don’t really get invited to that. I’ve had words. Same with golf, gaming, little coffee meets – everything.
It’s actually quite sad to hear that Garner doesn’t get invited to social events with his other teammates, however there must be more to it – or the midfielder is just messing around.
The club appears to have pretty solid relationships on the field right now, with three wins in four games. Garner is currently playing some of his greatest football of his career, so there aren’t any concerns from his perspective.
Hopefully, they all view the YouTube video, and we’ll see a slew of Instagram images next week showing them all playing golf together, followed by coffee and a round of Call of Duty!
