Fabrizio Romano confirms Jurgen Klopp has concrete interest to sign Ruben Neves

Jurgen Klopp, according to Fabrizio Romano, is ‘exploring possibilities for a new midfielder before the transfer deadline, with Moises Caicedo and Jude Bellingham already connected with moves.

Florian Plettenberg reports that Liverpool is “100% focused” on signing Bellingham, with “no significant deals” scheduled for the rest of the month, but a recent source suggests that another addition is conceivable.

According to Football Insider sources, Neves is clearly on Jurgen Klopp’s radar, as the Liverpool manager is looking to boost his midfield ranks with a top-class midfielder capable of starting straight away.

Wolves may be willing to listen to bids for the Portugal international, and with Liverpool’s interest defined as ‘solid,’ they may make an approach late in the transfer window, according to the source.

Only in April, former Wolves manager Bruno Lage rated the 25-year-old at £100 million, following an exceptional 2021/22 season in which the former Porto star made over 30 Premier League appearances for the fourth consecutive season.

Not only that, but the midfielder has been a bright spot in what has been a disappointing Wanderers team for much of the season, ranking head and shoulders above the rest of the squad as the best-performing player, with an average match rating of 7.27.

Neves, hailed as a’maestro’ by Athletic’s Tim Spiers, has demonstrated that he is worthy of the move up to a club of Liverpool’s prominence, and Klopp will undoubtedly require some fresh signings, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita’s contracts expiring at the end of the season.
