According to FootballTransfers, if Tottenham do not activate their £31 million option-to-buy clause, Newcastle will be next in line for Juventus’ Dejan Kulusevski.
His destiny is still firmly in Tottenham’s hands, although Newcastle are reported to be admirers of the Swede and ready to step in if this potential deal to Spurs becomes complicated.
After a strong start to his stint in North London, the winger has struggled this season, scoring just two goals in 37 games, compared to five in 20 the previous season.
However, at only 23 years old, he still has a lot of room to develop and is reminiscent of Eddie Howe. He’s a diligent worker with a lot of talent, and he’ll be familiar with fellow Swedish international Alexander Isak from their time together on the national team.
Spurs are unlikely to pass up the opportunity to sign the right-sided winger, but he could be one to keep an eye on for Newcastle as we prepare for the Champions League.
