4 options to replace Mike Hart as Michigan football running backs coach

Michigan football has to replace Mike Hart as running backs coach and here are four potential options for the Wolverines.

Hart was on personal leave but regardless of the reason, it’s a blow for the Wolverines. While Mike Hart might not have been dynamic on the recruiting trail in the eyes of some, he just signed a top-100 running back in the 2024 class, which was his best haul yet.

Hart was also tremendous in his on-field coaching role. But according to Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider, this didn’t catch Sherrone Moore off guard. It seems like there are some viable candidates but we don’t know who they are for sure. Just that a hire is “expected” before spring ball (via Webb’s report).

That being said, here are four candidates that make sense for Michigan football running backs coach.

Denard Robinson

We brought up this name on Friday. It makes sense. Robinson played running back in the NFL and has been on the Michigan football recruiting staff the past two seasons. However, he doesn’t have any experience being an on-field coach. He was an offensive analyst for the Jaguars before joining the Wolverines, so it would be a risk.

Yet, you know he would absolutely kill it on the recruiting trail. That being said, he might not be ready for this job but it would be fun to see “Shoelace” on the Michigan football coaching staff. For the record, I think he would do a good

job too.
