Newcastle United owners PIF keep stance on Three-year deal after contract offer to Liverpool legend

The main owners of Newcastle United, PIF, are contemplating their latest high-profile move.

Roberto Firmino,  is said to have received a hefty contract offer from Al Ahil, one of four Saudi Pro League clubs controlled 75% by Newcastle United’s principal owners, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.

After departing Anfield at the end of last season, the Brazilian is now a free agent. Firmino netted 111 goals in 362 appearances with Liverpool, helping them win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Firmino has been linked with La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona, but according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, he might become the latest high-profile star to move to Saudi Arabia.

Al Ahil, according to Romano, met with the 31-year-old and offered him a three-year contract. They are still waiting for Firmino’s final decision, but have scheduled medical checks for Wednesday and Friday just in case.

Since the PIF acquired an 80 percent ownership in Al Ahli, Al Nassr, Al Hilal, and Al Ittihad on June 5, several notable players have relocated to the Saudi Pro League.
