Leicester City are said to be eyeing up Villarreal forward Ben Brereton-Diaz ahead of the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old could soon be on the move again, a matter of months after he made the switch to Spain. And the Foxes are reportedly keeping tabs on him.

However, City are not the only club said to be showing an interest. According to TEAMtalk, a number of Premier League and Championship teams are keen on the former Blackburn Rovers striker.

Top-flight sides Crystal Palace and Burnley are reportedly monitoring his situation. City’s Championship rivals Southampton and West Bromwich Albion are also being linked with a potential move.

Brereton-Diaz has found it tough to pin down a regular starting spot for Villarreal since he joined the club in the summer. The La Liga outfit are reportedly willing to let him leave on loan in January in search of some game time.

The Chile international has made eight league appearances for Villarreal so far this term, with six of those coming from off the bench. He is yet to find the back of the net.

He joined the club on a free transfer after leaving Rovers at the end of his contract. During his time at Ewood Park, the attacker bagged 47 goals in 177 appearances across a five-year spell which also included a loan stint from Nottingham Forest before his move became permanent.

It could be a big January transfer window for City. Enzo Maresca’s team currently top the Championship table and are aiming to return to the top-flight at the first time of asking.
