Kalen DeBoer brought marquee members from his offensive staff from the University of Washington to Alabama football, but does Greg Byrne need to bring out the checkbook to keep a coach?

According to a report from Pro Football Talk, a league source said Ryan Grubb could be heading back to the Pacific Northwest to be the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks. Grubb has only been in Tuscaloosa (Ala.) for a month and is on the recruiting trail with Coach DeBoer. Nothing has been finalized on Grubb taking an NFL coaching job; however, he is under consideration. Grubb, 47, is one of the best offensive minds in college football. He spent time with DeBoer at Sioux Falls, Fresno State, and Washington. Grubb was an assistant head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterbacks coach at Washington in 2022 and 2023. He mentored Michael Penix Jr. to be a two-time 4,000+ yard passer, a 1,000+ yard rusher (Dillon Johnson), and four 1,000+ yard wide receivers. Grubb coached the Huskies to a Pac-12 Championship and the College Football Playoff last season.
Hopefully, Grubb remains with the Crimson Tide’s staff. He will have elite talent to work with in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
