Aston Villa have been monitoring 23-year-old Wolves star, Diego Simeone also keen

A shock claim has emerged that Aston Villa have been monitoring Wolves winger Pedro Neto.

Neto, 23, has been in stunning form so far this season.

The Portuguese forward has made five assists so far in Wolves’ seven Premier League games, and also scored one goal.

Having spent a lot of the last two years on the sidelines with injury, fans have been delighted to see him back to his best.

Neto really has been the standout player for Wanderers so far.

Perhaps inevitably, there is already a bit of speculation about teams being interested in the player.

But few would have expected a claim that Villa are looking at Neto…

Arsenal target Pedro Neto set to leave Wolves next year

Aston Villa are reportedly monitoring Pedro Neto, as well as Arsenal and Atletico Madrid

The claim comes from 90min, who say that Arsenal are still hot on Neto.

The Gunners have been long-term admirers of Neto and are said to be keeping track of him.

Apparently scouts from the north London giants were in attendance to watch him against City.

But 90min also boldly claim that Wolves’ Midlands rivals Villa have checked on Neto’s progress recently.

It is also stated that Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid are interested.

Villa are flying so far this season, having taken 15 points from their first seven games. They are sitting fifth right now, just three points behind leaders City.

Unai Emery is doing a great job, an seemingly feels Neto could further improve his squad.

Not a cat in hell’s chance

There is simply no way this happens.

Firstly, Wolves are surely going to do everything in their power to keep hold of Neto.

Ultimately, if he keeps playing like he is, it is going to take huge offer for a club to prise him away from Molineux.

There are other clubs out there with more money than Villa.

Neto could potentially have some of the world’s top clubs after him.

Villa may be on the up right now and have a top manager and European football. But Wolves are just not going to sell their best player to a rival. Especially given how coveted he could end up being.
