Aston Villa have set their sights on luring a £53 million star to the Midlands before the new season begins.
Aston Villa are ‘interested’ in signing Federico Chiesa and have been bolstered in their pursuit by the fact that Juventus are open to offers, according to transfer source Dean Jones.
Villans manager Unai Emery is looking to bolster his team ahead of their return to European competition after qualifying for the Europa Conference League.
According to BirminghamLive, Villa are interested in signing Chiesa as Emery looks for attacking reinforcements ahead of the forthcoming season.
A big-money move, however, is not a foregone conclusion, according to the source, as the Italy international will need to be persuaded to leave Juventus for the Midlands.
According to respected journalist Jones, Villa would continue to seek Chiesa despite tough competition for his services.
According to the Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, through Sport Witness, Newcastle United and Liverpool are also interested in the winger, who is valued at £53 million by Juventus.
Arsenal has also expressed interest in Chiesa, indicating that if he departs his homeland before the summer window closes, he will have plenty of choices in the Premier League.
What did Dean Jones have to say about Chiesa?
Jones knows that Villa are firmly in the battle to sign Chiesa, while Juventus are keen to hold talks about a possible transfer.
After previously acquiring Youri Tielemans, the transfer expert says Emery is turning to Italian clubs for his next signing, while Pau Torres is expected to arrive from Villarreal later this week.
“Aston Villa are interested,” Jones told GIVEMESPORT. The most intriguing aspect of this is that Juventus are eager to listen to whatever people have to say about them.
“There’s a bit of an exodus in Serie A right now, and I believe Villa are one of the clubs looking to see how they can capitalize on that.”
There is no doubt that Chiesa would make Villa an even more potent offensive force, as he has scored 56 goals and provided 45 assists in his senior club career, according to Transfermarkt.
His deft flank play might help players like Ollie Watkins, who scored 16 goals last season and is looking to build on that this season.
Although Chiesa was not at his best prior to the 2022/23 season, with Sofascore data revealing that he only scored once every 422 minutes in Serie A, there is no doubt that he is capable of causing defenders nightmares.
Gianluigi Buffon, the legendary Italian goalkeeper, has characterized the 25-year-old as “really special,” emphasizing that he will make an impression in Villa’s colors.
Chiesa, who is on a contract worth more than £153,000 per week at Juventus, appears to be on the market, and Emery would undoubtedly make a statement of intent if he won the race for his signing.
