Aston Villa, for example, wants Pedro Goncalves to join them for the upcoming season. However, they are unwilling to meet Sporting CP’s asking price.

Since taking over at Aston Villa, Unai Emery has done miracles. He has restored their fortunes and guided them to European football for the coming season.

Following an outstanding first season in charge, the Spanish manager is eager to bolster his squad. His squad has already recruited Youri Tielemans and Pau Torres. Emery is eager to enhance his assault now that his midfield and defense are nearly complete.

He wants to add someone with pace and goals to his roster. As a result, Aston Villa are interested in 25-year-old Pedro Goncalves. Last season, the Portuguese international was on fire. He appeared in a total of 51 games and contributed to 35 goals.

In approximately 4,200 minutes on the field, he scored 20 goals and assisted 15 times. His remarkable performances have not gone unnoticed, and the 25-year-old’s talents are in high demand.

However, with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026, the Portuguese club will have all negotiating authority. Sporting are not in any hurry to let him go because he is an important component of their future plans. Even the player is pleased with the current project.

As a result, his €80 million release clause serves as his price tag. However, Aston Villa are unable to match their expectations. They are only willing to pay him €40 million for his services. When Unai Emery’s team met with the players’ agents recently, they indicated that they would only spend €40-50 million.

Aston Villa are unlikely to reach an agreement with Sporting until they invest roughly €80 million. As a result, Goncalves appears to be ready to return to the club for another season. So Moussa Diaby could be the player they need to improve their attack, and they are contemplating a second bid for him.
