Aston Villa’s kept their dreams of bringing Champions League football to Villa Park alive with a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
After top four rivals Tottenham rallied to win 2-1 at home to Luton Town, Villa needed to match their result. And they did just that, with Moussa Diaby and Ezri Konsa scoring the goals.
Ollie Watkins, who started for Villa, was substituted off at half-time. Jhon Duran replaced the England international and Emery will be hoping that any issue isn’t a serious one.
It won’t be long until Villa are back in action with a trip to Manchester City to follow in midweek. But the Villans will now wait to see the outcome between sixth-placed Manchester United and Brentford (8pm). As it stands, United are currently 12 points from Villa and nine from Spurs.
