The Friday before the Browns‘ Week 4 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens,David Njokusat in his backyard and prepared for his weekly bonfire that he uses to help meditate and clear his mind.
His music played in the background and he began to build the fire, but this time he used a different lighter fluid than what he normally uses. He sprayed the wood with the fluid and went to spark the flame. Once the flame took to the lighter fluid, an explosion occurred that sent flames up through Njoku’s hands and arms to his face.
Njoku shared some details about the experience through social media in the past couple of weeks but never truly opened up about it until Friday.
The photos that are shared in this video are very intense and gruesome. It could be very traumatizing and harmful to some audiences so watch with caution.
The message from Njoku, however, is powerful. The 27-year-old hopes to be an advocate for all burn victims who may be afraid to show their face and skin.
